RAMPS 1.5 offers the possibility to control important components of a 3D printer (e.g. stepper motors, extruder and temperature sensors) via an Arduino Mega2560.
It is a variant of the RAMPS board which, like the others, is plugged into an Arduino Mega for operation. The layout of the RAMPS 1.5 is practically identical to that of the RAMPS 1.4, but the MOSFETs and fuses are positioned differently: the RAMPS 1.4 has them on the side, with a heat sink so that it can be easily plugged in and unplugged. The RAMPS 1.5 has the MOSFETs soldered flush to the surface with flush heat sinks on the underside of the board. This eliminates the need for an additional heat sink and provides a more stable connection. The RAMPS 1.5 uses small soldered and more stable fuses instead of the large yellow fuses of the RAMPS 1.4. The positions of the D1 and D2 diodes are also reversed compared to the RAMPS 1.4.
