Grove - Optical rotary encoder (TCUT1600X01)

The Grove - Optical Encoder (TCUT1600X01) is a transmissive sensor comprising an infrared transmitter and two phototransistor detectors. Normally, the infrared transmitter emits infrared rays, the phototransistor detectors receive the infrared rays, then the phototransistor is turned on, both outputs are high and the built-in LED indicators light up. If an obstacle is blocked, the phototransistor cannot receive the infrared rays, so the phototransistor is switched off and both outputs are low and the integrated LED indicators go out.

You can use this sensor as a rotary encoder to detect speed or rotation, and thanks to the two phototransistor detectors you can even detect the direction of rotation.

Can be used as a rotary encoder for speed and rotation detection. Double phototransistor detectors enable detection of the direction of rotation.
