Grove - Hall sensor
The Grove Hall sensor is based on the Hall effect magnetic switch A1101 and on the Hall effect, in which a voltage difference is generated on an electrical conductor across an electrical current in the conductor and a magnetic field perpendicular to the current. The output of these devices switches to low (switches on) when a magnetic field perpendicular to the Hall sensor exceeds the operating point threshold value BOP, and it switches to high (switches off) when the magnetic field disappears. This allows the speed to be measured, for example.
Hall sensors are able to measure a wide range of magnetic fields and react to both the strength and the orientation of the field. When used as electronic switches, they are less susceptible to mechanical failure as there is no wear on physical parts. They can also be operated at higher frequencies than mechanical switches.
Features:
- Excellent durability: non-contact, wear-free operation, low maintenance and immunity to vibration, dust and water, so you don't have to worry about mechanical failures.
- Fast response: Based on the A1101 Hall-effect magnetic switch, only 400 ns transition time for rise and fall.
- Excellent reliability: Stable operation even under extremely cold (-40℃) or hot conditions (+85℃).
- Grove unit interface: The sensor ensures "plug and play" and can be versatile for various applications.
Application:
- Pneumatic cylinder
- Counting systems
- Printers
- Automotive systems that detect position, distance and speed
- Fuel level indicator for motor vehicles
- Keypad switches

What is Grove?
Grove facilitates connection, experimentation and simplifies the prototyping process. No jumpers or soldering are required. More than 300 Grove modules have been developed to cover a wide range of applications and fulfill a variety of requirements. Not only the hardware is open source, but also the software, and instructional PDF documents and a wiki are provided for Grove users (especially beginners).
We offer various Grove Shields to enable connection to the Grove system with various microcontrollers.
