- Compensates for angular and axial misalignment
- Elastomer core with metal sleeves
- Can be installed without tools
Product Description
A shaft coupling connects two drive shafts when they are not precisely aligned. The elastomer element dampens vibrations and accommodates misalignments that occur during installation, provided the shafts are not perfectly parallel and concentric. In this way, the coupling reduces stress on bearing points and drive systems.
Thanks to the elastomer core, torque is transmitted without backlash and without causing wear. The metal elements engage the two shafts, and a clamping connection without keys or pins ensures the system operates reliably. The elastomer absorbs shocks during startup or sudden load changes, which significantly extends the service life of the motor and gearbox.
Shaft couplings are used in small drive trains such as robot axes, in 3D printers to connect the motor shaft and spindle, and wherever the motor and load are not mounted directly next to each other. They are also used in laboratory measuring instruments or test setups to compensate for imbalances.
For operation, secure fastening to the drive shaft is required, and the screws must be tightened evenly. The torque varies depending on size, as does the maximum permissible misalignment; therefore, the specific model should be matched to the motor’s power and the geometry of the assembly.
Safety Notice
A rotating coupling poses a risk of injury; moving parts must be covered. This component is intended exclusively for the construction of prototypes and for testing and development purposes.
