Product Description

White LEDs in the standard 5 mm size form the foundation for lighting projects in prototype development. The soldered leads allow for direct connection to circuits without an additional socket. With a lifespan of approximately 100,000 hours, these diodes are suitable for continuous operation over extended periods.

Each LED requires a series resistor to prevent overcurrent. With a typical 5 V power supply, this resistor is usually between 150 and 220 ohms, depending on the desired brightness. The batch of 1,000 units thus covers projects ranging from individual status indicators to arrays with several hundred light points.

Typical applications include illuminated display panels, status lights on test setups, backlighting for displays, and decentralized lighting for experimental setups. Even in larger educational projects, this quantity can be used to create appealing visual feedback, such as a light matrix for visual debugging of programs.

The polarity of the LEDs must be observed when soldering them in; the longer lead is the anode (positive), and the shorter one is the cathode (negative). In addition to the LED and the series resistor, a suitable power supply is required depending on the circuit.
