Product Description

This set of 1,000 pieces contains green 5-mm LEDs for display and signaling applications. The light-emitting semiconductor chip emits green light with a peak wavelength of 565 nm. The diffusing plastic housing spreads the light evenly over a beam angle of 60 degrees, creating a wide, glare-free illuminated area instead of a single hotspot.

Each LED requires a forward voltage of approximately 2.2 V and can handle a maximum continuous current of 25 mA. This means that a series resistor for current limiting is absolutely necessary to protect the LED from overcurrent. The longer lead wires are the anodes, and the shorter ones are the cathodes; therefore, correct polarity must be observed when soldering.

Typical applications include status indicators in electronic circuits—such as for visual feedback on operating states—or signal lights in DIY projects using microcontrollers. They can be easily integrated onto breadboards or prototyping boards. The temperature range of -40 °C to +85 °C covers indoor and simple outdoor applications.

Operation requires appropriate series resistors and a power source with the correct voltage. In the circuit, the LEDs should be connected in series with the calculated series resistor.
