Grove I2C motor driver (L298P)
The Grove I2C motor driver (L298P) is a commonly used motor driver for stepper motors and servo motors. It contains an STM32 chip to burn the code to control the motor driver. This is a 2-channel motor driver, each channel can support up to 1A current. You can also use the I2C interface to transfer data from the peripheral microcontroller. The default I2C address is 0x0f and you can change the address of the motor driver by connecting the I2C cable hat. The I2C address is selectable from 0x00 to 0X0f.
Note: The L298P must be operated with a DC voltage of 6-12 V VSS and a DC voltage of 5 V VS. In fact, the motor driver must be operated with a DC voltage of 6 to 12 V, and this DC voltage input must not exceed 15 V.
Main features:
- MCU: STM32f030f4P6 microcontroller to burn the code and control the motor driver.
- L298P motor driver chip: Commonly used as a motor driver and can drive stepper motors and servo motors.
- Selectable I2C address: Change the connection of the cable hat to get the I2C address from 0x00 to 0x0f. The default I2C address is 0x0f.
- 2-channel output: Can support 1A current on each channel, maximum 2A current; Requires 6V-12V DC voltage input.
- User LED: Green LED lights up for clockwise direction and red LED lights up for counterclockwise direction for each channel.

What is L298?
L298 is a high voltage and high current motor driver chip that receives TTL logic signals. They are mainly used when different loads such as motors, solenoids, etc. need to be driven where an H-bridge is required. A powerful motor driver is required. The control unit can only provide TTL outputs. Current control and PWM driven single chip device are required.
