Audio amplifier PAM8302A, miniature, 2.5V - 5V, 1-channel (mono), Class-D

This super-small mono amplifier is surprisingly powerful, it can deliver up to 2.5 watts to speakers with an impedance of 4-8 ohms. Inside the miniature chip is a Class-D controller that can operate from 2.0V - 5.5V DC. As it is a Class-D amplifier, it is very efficient (over 90% efficiency when driving an 8 Ω speaker at more than half a watt), making it perfect for portable and battery-powered projects. It has built-in overheat and overcurrent protection, but doesn't normally run hot. 

This board is a welcome upgrade for basic "LM386" amplifiers!

The A+ and A- inputs of the amplifier run through 1.0uF capacitors and are therefore fully differential. If you do not have differential outputs, simply connect the audio pin to ground.
The output is "Bridge Tied" - this means that the output pins are connected directly to the speaker pins and there is no connection to ground. The output is a high frequency 250 kHz square wave PWM which is then "averaged out" by the speaker coil - the high frequencies cannot be heard. The output cannot therefore be connected to another amplifier, but the speakers must be driven directly.

The module is supplied with a fully assembled and tested breakout board. A pin header is already attached for connection to a breadboard or Dupont cable. A speaker is not included, use any speaker with an impedance of 4 ohms or more.
