This encoder allows PWM signals to be converted into a single PPM signal, facilitating the integration of multi-channel receivers into modern flight control systems.

The PPM encoder plugs into the PWM servo output terminals of any R/C receiver and encodes them into a PPM pulse suitable for many autopilots (e.g. Pixhawk). No modifications to the R/C receiver are required. The entire project is based on the ATMEL ATMEGA328p AVR processor and all timing is done within interrupts, so accuracy and stability are optimized. The PPM encoder design is based on the Paperazzi PPM encoder.

Important notes:

  • The firmware is pre-configured to read 8 channels. If you want to change the settings of the PPM encoder to reverse the PPM signal and change the fail-safe predefined values, you will need an AVR-ISP programmer to reprogram it.
  • The jumper on the board is not solderable by default. In this case, the board is operated via FC.
  • Please note that basic knowledge of RC technology is required for operation. Make sure that your receiver and flight controller are compatible with PPM signals to ensure optimum functionality.
