With its ability to significantly amplify the weak signal of a thermocouple, it enables reliable sampling by most ADCs (analog-to-digital converters). The integrated temperature sensor provides automatic cold junction compensation, while the fixed gain factor converts the thermocouple voltage into an easily interpretable 5 mV/°C output voltage.
