Digital infrared temperature sensor The digital infrared temperature sensor is a non-contact temperature measurement module based on MLX90615. Both the IR-sensitive thermopile detector chip and the signal conditioning chip are integrated in the same housing. This module communicates with Arduino via SMBus, up to 127 sensors can be read via common 2 wires. Digital infrared temperature sensor

The digital infrared temperature sensor is a non-contact temperature measurement module based on MLX90615. Both the IR-sensitive thermopile detector chip and the signal conditioning chip are integrated in the same housing. This module communicates with Arduino via SMBus, up to 127 sensors can be read via common 2 wires. Thanks to the module's low-noise amplifier, 16-bit ADC and powerful DSP unit, a high accuracy of 1 °C over a wide temperature range and a high measurement resolution of 0.02 °C can be achieved.

The ambient temperature is the MLX90615 housing temperature and the object temperature is the object target temperature. Place the sensor at normal indoor temperature and make sure that there is no heat source in front of the 1M area of the sensor. The object temperature corresponds approximately to the ambient temperature. When measuring the object temperature, make sure that the object is as close as possible to the sensor. However, do not touch the surface of the sensor. A distance of less than 3 cm is recommended.

    Features

    • Wide temperature detection range: -40 to 85 °C for the sensor temperature and -40 to 115 °C for the object temperature
    • Precise temperature measurement: High accuracy of 1 °C over a wide temperature range
    • SMBus-compatible digital interface: This module communicates with Arduino via SMBus
    • Grove-compatible interface: The product ensures "plug and play" and can be used in a variety of Grove applications

    Application

    • High-precision non-contact temperature measurements
    • Hand-held thermometer
    • Ear thermometers
    • Household appliances with temperature control
    • Health care
    • Livestock monitoring
    • Multi-zone temperature control - up to 127 sensors can be read out via common 2 wires
