Grove - Thumb joystick
Description:
This Grove-compatible module is similar to the analog joystick on PS5 controllers. The X and Y axes are two ~10k potentiometers that control 2D movement by generating analog signals. The joystick also has a push button that can be used for special applications.
When the module is in working mode, it outputs two analog values representing two directions. Compared with a normal joystick, its output values are limited to a smaller range (e.g. 200-800), only when it is pressed, the X value is set to 1023 and the MCU (such as Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi Pico, etc.) can detect the pressing operation.
Features:
- Analog output: limited range (e.g., 200-800), maximum value when button is pressed.
- Supports wide voltage range: 5V/3.3V compatible.
- Grove unit socket: plug and play, versatile for various applications.
Application:
- Music console
- Game controller
- Remote control for drones and chassis
Specifications:
- Weight: 17g
- Operating voltage: 5V
- Analog value (X): 206 to 798
- Analog value (Y): 203 to 797
- PCB dimensions: 4x2cm
What is Grove?
Grove facilitates connection, experimentation and simplifies the prototyping process. No jumpers or soldering are required. More than 300 Grove modules have been developed to cover a wide range of applications and fulfill a variety of requirements. Not only the hardware is open source, but also the software.
We offer various Grove shields to enable a connection to the Grove system with various microcontrollers.
