Overview

The Arduino Explore IoT Kit Rev2 is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the Internet of Things and encourage students to think about solving global sustainability issues in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Advanced students can now quickly and easily create their own connected devices - the so-called Internet of Things. They learn how to build internet-enabled objects with accessible starter activities and 10 sustainability projects, supported by technical and theoretical lessons.

Each of these projects allows you to investigate and solve a real-world challenge linked to one of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. They will learn design thinking methods that will help them develop their own unique solutions to challenges such as urban agriculture, health monitoring and water and waste conservation. Teach future technologies, design methods and a deep understanding of real-world problems to build a sustainable future.

After researching current academic and industry standards, key concepts were identified to be covered in this kit to help students learn how devices communicate and what tools are used to promote communication, data management, analysis, and computational thinking. It does this by using real-world sensors to capture meaningful data from the environment and modify it by remotely controlling actuators such as LEDs, buzzers and displays via the cloud.

Notes:

For a more comprehensive learning journey into the Internet of Things, access to 10 more hands-on step-by-step projects, all linked to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals and covering the basics of IoT, and connection to Google Classroom, educators can subscribe to the Arduino Cloud for Education School Plan.
Each of the 10 projects takes between 15 and 25 hours to complete and can be completed over a few weeks or an entire semester or year.
Each project contains five modules that can be completed in an order that makes sense for your classroom.
Good programming skills and experience with sensor technologies are recommended to complete a project.
If you have basic knowledge, the kit also contains additional technical activities and lessons for beginners.
