The ROBOTIS TURTLEBOT3 is the official ROS.org development platform for companies, research institutions and universities.
The Robot Operating System (ROS) is an open source-based framework/middleware for the development of autonomous systems. ROS has a large number of users, which is why the possibilities of the framework are constantly being expanded. The Turtlebot3 Waffle is equipped with a Raspberry Pi development board, a ROBOTIS 360° LiDAR system, an OpenCR control unit, a Raspberry Pi 4 2GB, camera and two Dynamixel servomotors for locomotion.
ROBOTIS OpenManipulator
In addition to additional sensors, the ROBOTIS Waffle Pi can also be supplemented with an OpenManipulator robot arm, which can be purchased as an option. Like the entire Waffle Pi, this is completely open source and excellently documented, so that algorithms for mobile manipulation can be researched immediately.

The ROBOTIS TURTLEBOT3 is probably the most affordable development platform in the field of SLAM and navigation at the moment. Thanks to the high-quality components, reliable measurement data can be generated and processed. In addition, the OpenCR controller board offers a range of expansion options, for example to control a robot arm or implement additional sensors. The predestined areas of application for the ROBOTIS Waffle are SLAM and navigation.
