DOBOT Hexplorer - Hexapod robotic dog (Six-legged Bionic Robot)
The DOBOT Hexplorer is a state-of-the-art, six-limbed robotic dog for research, teaching and demonstrations in mobile robotics. It was developed to realistically test locomotion and field tests not only on level ground, but also on changing surfaces and small obstacles. As a compact, transportable overall platform, the Hexplorer combines drive, sensor technology and development environment in one system - ideal if you want to develop or teach navigation, perception, motion control and tests in a real environment without first having to construct your own base platform.
Typical fields of application
- Research and teaching (mobile robotics, autonomous navigation, perception)
- Interactive services and guided demonstrations
- Patrol / inspection (development & testing)
- Exploration and rescue-related scenarios (development & demonstration)
Note: As with all mobile robotics, project-specific design, risk assessment and validation under actual operating conditions are required for productive or safety-critical applications.
Highlights
- ROS2 Humble pre-installed on Ubuntu 22.04 - a quick start to development projects
- Strong sensor base ex works: LiDAR Livox Mid360 + RGB-D camera Intel RealSense D435
- SDK for low-level & high-level control (Python/C++)
- Suitable for realistic field tests: up to 20 cm obstacle height, up to 40° slope adjustment
