TFT: Touchscreens for the Arduino microcontroller

Since a few months you have no longer the choice between a conventional LCD or OLED when selecting a suitable display for your microelectronic project, but you can also use TFT displays for Arduino compatible microcontrollers.
Want to see a small example? With the "ili9481" TFT we offer for example a touchscreen module, which is relatively easy to control and impresses with a very nice color display.

But why should you use a TFT for the small single board computers?

Touchscreens for the Arduino - the TFT display

We have already anticipated it in the headlines: TFT displays have a touch screen. Look at it this way: When jumping from the LCD, on which only characters in defined character blocks can be displayed, to an OLED, on which you can display any pattern pixel-exactly, it is not far to the TFT. TFTs combine the positive features of OLEDs and extend them with a touchscreen component.

How do I use a touchscreen for Arduino and co?

If you have access to a 3D printer in your workshop, there is a good chance that you have (literally) already come into contact with a TFT. The displays are used as control units in the younger generation of 3D printers.
From this, we can also directly deduce the benefit: You can map input blocks on a TFT in any representation and store them with functions. This means that complex menu structures can be mapped on the displays, which are between two and seven inches in size. If this is not enough for you, you can also write, draw, play games or play small slide shows on the display surface...

If you have any questions about our modules, please do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to hearing from you.
