Kitronik Autonomous Robotics Platform - A fun and practical introduction to robotics with the Raspberry Pi Pico
The Kitronik Autonomous Robotics Platform for Raspberry Pi Pico is a fun and practical introduction to buggy robotics. The Robotics Platform is designed to grow with you, providing additional servo and ultrasonic sensor connections for more advanced projects. This buggy requires a Raspberry Pi Pico with soldered pin headers.
The kit comes with the autonomous robot platform chassis, 2 wheels and tires, a Kitronik line tracking sensor board and an ultrasonic sensor. It requires no soldering and minimal mechanical assembly. Attach the tires to the wheels, slide the wheels onto the pre-assembled motors and both the line tracking sensor and ultrasonic distance sensor are plugged directly into the board. After assembly, plug the Raspberry Pi Pico into the integrated connector, insert 4 x alkaline AA batteries into the battery holders underneath and you're done. Your robot buggy is ready for use.
The booklet supplied guides you step by step through the introduction to your robot. It contains detailed assembly instructions, information on preparing the Raspberry Pi Pico, instructions on installing an editor (Thonny) and instructions on writing code for each function of the Robotics Platform. No corner of the board is left unexplained.
For those who wish to modify their robot buggies, the buggy has 4 x threaded mounting points on the chassis, 3 x M3 and 1 x M4. These mechanical attachment points allow for the addition of custom features such as cosmetic chassis parts and/or additional robot features such as appendages.
To make programming the robot as easy as possible, Kitronik has developed a series of Micropython modules, which you can find here. Further information can be found in the brochure enclosed with the kit.
